Stackers
Stackers lift a pallet up into racking but keep the compact footprint of a walkie, so they fit aisles a counterbalance forklift cannot turn in. Straddle and counterweight versions handle different pallet and rack geometries. Operations buy them when a full forklift is more machine, more license, and more aisle than the job actually needs.

Stackers — common questions
- Straddle vs counterbalance stacker — what is the difference?
- A counterbalance stacker carries the load ahead of the wheels like a small forklift, so it handles closed-bottom pallets and stillages but needs more room. A straddle stacker has outboard legs that go under or around the pallet for stability in a tighter footprint on open-bottom pallets. The right choice depends on your pallet type and aisle.
- What lift height should I buy?
- Measure the top beam you actually need to reach and add a sensible buffer for staging — buying more height than the building uses adds cost and can reduce capacity. Share your top storage level and we will size it.
- Walkie stacker vs order picker — which do I need?
- A walkie stacker puts away and retrieves whole pallets at height while the operator walks alongside. An order picker raises the operator to pick individual cases from elevated locations. Moving full pallets means a stacker; picking cases at height means an order picker.
- Do tires or floor condition matter for stackers?
- Yes — indoor stackers typically run on smooth, level concrete with polyurethane wheels. Rough, cracked, or outdoor surfaces change the tire and truck choice. Let us know your floor condition and we will spec accordingly.
