3.2 Scope

This policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in connection with this website and related online lead capture. It does not cover offline-only practices not described here, or third-party websites we link to (OEM sites, partner sites, Google reviews profile, etc.). Those sites have their own policies.

We do not ask for payment-card numbers, bank account numbers, Social Security numbers, or full credit-application data on this website. Financing interest is handled as a contact request; any credit application occurs off-site with a finance partner or with a rep through a controlled process.

3.4 How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  1. Respond to quote, contact, configurator, service, rental, racking, training, and financing inquiries.
  2. Route leads to the appropriate Big Joe team member (including via Salesforce when that integration is live).
  3. Provide optional chat assistance about publicly described products and services.
  4. Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website (server logs, necessary cookies).
  5. Send transactional messages about your request (e.g., confirmation or follow-up on a quote).
  6. Send commercial/marketing email only where permitted and with a clear way to unsubscribe (CAN-SPAM).
  7. Comply with law, enforce terms, and protect rights, safety, and security.
  8. Display moderated public Google review excerpts (privacy-scrubbed) as trust content.
  9. Measure site performance and advertising: we do not currently load Google Analytics (GA4) or Google Ads tags. If we enable those tools later, we will update this policy and load them only with your consent.
  10. We do not currently build advertising audiences from this website. If we later run Google Ads campaigns with marketing cookies, we will update this notice first.

We do not use website form data to make automated eligibility decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without human involvement.

3.5 How we disclose personal information

We may disclose personal information to:

Recipient type Purpose Examples
Service providers / contractors Hosting, email delivery, CRM/lead routing, security Cloudflare (CDN/hosting), email sender (when enabled), Salesforce (when enabled)
Advertising & analytics providers Analytics, conversion measurement, advertising (including limited retargeting when campaigns run) None currently. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Ads tags are not loaded on this website
Professional advisors Legal, accounting, insurance as needed Counsel, insurers
Authorities Legal process or safety Courts, regulators, law enforcement when required
Business transfer Merger, acquisition, or asset sale (with continuity of this notice where required) Rare / situational

Google (reviews): We may display review content from Google’s platforms under Google’s policies; we moderate excerpts before display.

Sale / sharing (California-style language):

  • We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not sell your quote/contact leads to data brokers or unrelated marketers.
  • We do not currently share personal information with advertising or analytics providers. Google Analytics and Google Ads tags are not loaded. If we enable them later, that sharing may be considered a “sale” or “share” under some privacy laws, and we will update this notice.
  • Opt out: use Reject non-essential or turn off Analytics/Marketing in Cookie settings, or use a browser Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where we honor it. You may also email sales@bigjoeca.com.
  • Other ad platforms (e.g. Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft Advertising) may be enabled for future campaigns; they are not active unless listed as current in our Cookie Policy.
  • We do not use this site as a multi-seller lead marketplace.

3.6 Cookies and similar technologies

By default we use strictly necessary cookies (for example, to remember your cookie choices and keep the site secure).

These optional analytics and advertising cookies are not currently active on this website — they do not load even if you opt in. The Analytics and Marketing categories in Cookie settings are a future seam. If we enable tools later, they would be:

Category When loaded Tool (if/when enabled)
Analytics Not loaded (even after opt-in) Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Marketing Not loaded (even after opt-in) Google Ads tags (conversion / advertising)

Closing or navigating away from the consent banner without accepting does not count as consent. Banner offers Accept all, Reject non-essential, and Manage with equal access. Re-open anytime via Cookie settings.

Details: Cookie Policy.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

This website recognizes and honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC), a setting some browsers and extensions send to signal your choice to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. When your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request and act on it automatically: we decline the Analytics and Marketing cookie categories, so no analytics or advertising tags (including Google Analytics and Google Ads) load and none of your information is shared for those purposes. Only strictly necessary cookies remain active. You do not have to take any further action for the signal to take effect.

By default, GPC controls. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we apply the opt-out automatically — even before you interact with the cookie banner. You may still make an explicit, informed choice at any time in Cookie settings (for example, to opt in to a category), and that later choice will be honored for this site. If you have not made an explicit choice, the GPC signal governs. We do not silently override a GPC signal.

3.7 Chat assistant

Our site may include a chat assistant that answers common questions about equipment and services and can offer a lead form. The assistant is designed to use public catalog/FAQ content. It is instructed not to quote prices or invent specifications. Messages you type and any contact details you submit may be processed to answer you and route a lead. Prefer not to include sensitive personal information in free-text chat.

If an optional language-model service is enabled behind our server, message content may be sent to that service solely to generate a response; we configure it with data-minimization and safety rules. You can always contact us by phone or the contact form instead of chat.

3.8 Email communications (CAN-SPAM)

  • Transactional / relationship messages about a request you made may be sent as needed to fulfill that request.
  • Commercial messages (promotions, newsletters, general marketing) will include accurate sender information, our physical address, and a clear unsubscribe method. We honor opt-out requests for commercial email within 10 business days.
  • Unsubscribing from commercial email does not stop messages required to complete an open service or sales transaction you requested.

3.9 Phone and text (TCPA)

When you provide a phone number on a form, we use it to respond to your inquiry (including by phone). We do not treat form submission alone as consent for unrelated autodialed marketing text campaigns.

If we later offer SMS marketing alerts, we will present a separate, clear disclosure and opt-in, state that consent is not a condition of purchasing equipment or receiving a quote, and honor STOP / revoke requests in any reasonable manner.

3.10 Retention

We retain personal information as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy — including responding to inquiries, maintaining business and customer records, measuring and improving the site and advertising (where you consented), security, and legal or accounting requirements. When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete or de-identify it in the ordinary course of business.

Server and security logs are typically kept for shorter operational windows unless needed for an investigation. Consent preference records may be kept as long as needed to demonstrate compliance.

3.11 Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information (HTTPS, access controls on systems that store leads, vendor diligence). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please do not send sensitive financial or government ID data through website forms or chat.

3.12 Your California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, subject to legal exceptions and verification requirements, you may have the right to:

  1. Know / access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  2. Delete personal information we collected from you.
  3. Correct inaccurate personal information.
  4. Opt out of sale or sharing of personal information (including advertising/analytics sharing described above) via Cookie settings, Reject non-essential, GPC where honored, or a request to sales@bigjoeca.com.
  5. Limit use and disclosure of sensitive personal information (we do not intentionally collect sensitive PI via this website).
  6. Non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

How to exercise: Email sales@bigjoeca.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” Please describe the request type (access, delete, correct, opt-out, etc.) and enough information for us to verify you control the relevant email/phone. We will respond within the timeframes required by law. (Mailing address is listed under Contact if you prefer written requests.)

Authorized agents: You may designate an authorized agent as permitted by California law; we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.

Notice at collection: The categories and purposes in sections 3.3–3.4 constitute our notice at collection for website interactions.

3.13 Additional privacy rights (other U.S. states / light international)

Residents of other states with consumer privacy laws may have similar rights (access, deletion, opt-out of targeted advertising/sale). Contact us using the methods above; we will handle requests in good faith consistent with applicable law.

Visitors from outside the United States: this site is operated from the United States for a U.S. dealership audience. If you contact us from abroad, your information may be processed in the United States. For essential inquiries we rely on steps necessary to respond to your request; optional cookies rely on consent where required.

3.14 Children

This website is directed to business purchasers and operators of material-handling equipment, not to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

3.15 Accessibility

We aim to make this website usable by people with disabilities and to align public pages with recognized accessibility practices (including WCAG-oriented design). If you cannot access content or exercise a privacy right because of a disability-related barrier, contact sales@bigjoeca.com or 800-4-BIGJOE and we will assist. See also our Accessibility Statement.

3.16 Third-party links

OEM manufacturer sites, finance partner sites, map providers, and social or review platforms are not controlled by us. Review their privacy policies before submitting information there.

3.17 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the site after an update means you should review the revised policy.
