OPERATOR TRAINING

A trained operator is the cheapest safety upgrade you'll buy.

OSHA requires every powered-industrial-truck operator to be trained, evaluated, and certified before they run the equipment. We deliver operator training aligned to that standard, scheduled to your site and the trucks your team actually runs.

WHAT OSHA REQUIRES

The standard is clear. Training has to match the floor.

FORMAL INSTRUCTION

Classroom or equivalent.

OSHA's operator standard calls for formal instruction, hands-on practical training, and an evaluation of each operator's performance in the workplace.

SITE & TRUCK SPECIFIC

Trained on what they'll run.

Training has to cover the truck type and the conditions of your workplace, not a generic video — which is exactly why training on your floor beats a one-size class.

RE-EVALUATION EVERY 3 YEARS

Certification isn't forever.

OSHA requires operators to be re-evaluated at least every three years, and refresher training after an accident, a near-miss, a new truck type, or a change in workplace conditions.

WHAT WE OFFER

Certification, re-evaluation, and refreshers.

Offerings only — schedule and scope are confirmed when you inquire. No published class sizes or course prices.

Initial operator certification

Formal instruction, hands-on evaluation, and the documentation your safety file needs.

Three-year re-evaluation

Keep your certified operators current on the OSHA clock.

Refresher & after-incident training

Reset skills after a near-miss, a new truck, or a layout change.

On-site training

Scheduled at your facility, on your equipment, around your shifts.

WHY TRAIN WITH YOUR DEALER

The people who sell and service your trucks also train your operators.

That means training on the exact models on your floor — the lithium walkie, the reach truck, the counterbalance — by people who know those units cold. One local partner for the equipment and the people who run it. Also see service and resources.

Common questions

Is forklift operator training required by law?
Yes. Under OSHA's powered industrial truck standard (29 CFR 1910.178(l)), operators must be trained, evaluated, and certified before operating the equipment. It applies to most powered lift trucks, including electric pallet jacks and stackers.
How often do operators need to be recertified?
OSHA requires a re-evaluation at least every three years, plus refresher training after an accident or near-miss, when an operator is assigned a new type of truck, or when workplace conditions change.
Do you train at our facility or yours?
We schedule operator training at your site, on your equipment and in your working conditions — which is what OSHA's standard is built around.
Do you train on all truck types, or just Big Joe?
We train operators on the powered industrial trucks you run, and we know the Big Joe, Noblelift, and warehouse equipment we sell inside and out.
How do I schedule training?
Send your location, truck types, and how many operators through the form, and the Carson team will coordinate a date.
